New models are released in September, which means dealerships are often motivated to move out the older new cars still sitting on the lot.  Websites like edmunds.com helps consumers search for cars and potential deals in your area.

When out shopping, you may want to check out deals on denim.  MSN Money reports retailers try to move the styles they had hoped to sell during the back-to-school season.

You may also consider shopping for costumes. You can often find decent deals on costumes even before the holiday. The website buycostumes.com advertised deals of 10 to 15 percent off. 

When it comes to electronics, it's always good to be patient -- Black Friday promises deep discounts. But if you're looking for an Ivy Bridge laptop or an off-brand HDTV, pcworld.com reports October may be the time to buy.
