KANSAS CITY, Mo. - You may be eligible for a big tax credit that could put up to $5,700.00 in your bank account.

Ron Howard from the United Way stopped by NBC Action News Weekend Today to share the important information. He said more people are eligible for this credit than ever before.

“Congress passed the law during the recession saying, let’s expand the limits during these tough economic times, so that more families with children are eligible for the tax credit,” said Howard.

Howard said nationwide, an estimated 20 percent of eligible taxpayers may not claim it because they don't know about the tax credit or don't think they can qualify for it.
