DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The Powerball jackpot has climbed to $550 million - the second-largest ever - after no tickets matched the winning numbers in the latest drawing.
A message early Thursday on Powerball's website says there were no jackpot winners for Wednesday night's drawing.
But the drawing did produce 28 brand new millionaires, though. The Powerball website lists one $2 million winner was sold in Delaware and Pennsylvania and 26 $1 million winners were sold in 16 states, including one in Missouri.
Missouri’s $1 million winner was sold at Telegraph Liquors, 5661 Telegraph Road, in St. Louis.
“We want to remind players to check their tickets closely,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “Even though you might not have matched all six numbers, you may have won one of the eight other prizes.”
The winning numbers drawn Wednesday night: 2, 11, 26, 34, 41 and a Powerball of 32. The next drawing will be held Saturday.
The cash value of a $550 million jackpot is estimated at $350.1 million.
