KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The founders of BeyondCredentials.com call it a mix between Facebook and The Ladders where employers who use the site are only exposed to job seekers that meet certain requirements and post much more than just resumes.
Job seekers post social-media like profiles with pictures of themselves and a biography. They can also post videos answering interview questions via webcam, download business cards, and even track the page views of their new personalized website.
"It personalizes the process," says co-founder Kevin Melgaard. "I'm a lot more likely to go sit down for coffee with you in an informational interview if you send me a link to your hobbies, interests, and your charity work with Operation Breakthrough, than I am if you just send me a snippet from some paragraph I'm probably assuming you sent to ten other people,"
Kelly Watkins signed up to use the site months before she graduates from Mizzou as an occupational therapist. She says showing personality is crucial in the job hunt for a career where bedside manner matters.
"I think it is really important for them to know who I am, where I come from," says Watkins. "That's what makes my personality and in the job I'm working with, that's the most important thing, my personality and how I get along with people.
