KANSAS CITY, Mo. - With so many people looking for a job these days, making your resume stand out can be difficult.
Here are a few ways to keep yours on the top of the pile:
1. Use the company's keywords. Look for words or phrases in the job posting, and use those to detail your work history or accomplishments.
2. Keep your font choices simple. Choose a text that's basic and easy to read - but you can break away from Arial and Times New Roman.
3. Leave white space. Making your resume easy to read is important - don't pack too much information on the page.
"Keep in mind, the reader of the resume spends about 10 to 15 seconds,” explained Marquita Richards with the Workforce Partnership. “So if you're tailoring or targeting your resume to a position, you're going to speak to the requirements, and that will get the attention of the reader of the resume."
Most importantly – triple-check for any spelling or grammar errors.
