KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police officers were dispatched to a nightclub in the 3000 block of east 12th Street near Agnes on a reported "tavern disturbance" involving a suspect armed with a gun just after midnight Friday.
As police were on their way to the scene at the Las Plebes bar, the call was updated to a shooting. When they got there, they found two victims suffering gunshot wounds. Both were taken to area hospitals where one victim, a Hispanic male in his 20s, was pronounced dead.
The second victim, described as a Hispanic male in his 40s, suffered non life-threatening injuries.
According to police, the suspect was either kicked out of the bar or left on his own. He then went and got a gun, came back and began shooting inside the bar.
The 40-year-old victim was him in the leg. Police said he didn’t know he was injured until an officer pointed it out.
Authorities believe they know who the shooter is but is still asking for the public's help. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477.
