KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A Kansas City, Kan. standoff ended around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Police said a man who had barricaded himself in a home with two children and a grandmother was out of the house and in police custody.
The children were aged four and seven. All three people in the house with the man are safely out of the home.
The incident happened near two Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools.
The schools were on lockdown and parents dropping their children off had the option to leave the students, or take them home. A 41 Action News reporter on scene said some were choosing to take their kids home for the day.
Police were called to the scene at 5 a.m., responding to a disturbance call in the 200 Block of Ferree near Central Middle School and Whittier Elementary.
