KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The suspect in a stabbing last weekend at an Olathe, Kan., motel was taken into custody Saturday after a police pursuit that stretched from Olathe into south Kansas City, Mo.

The original assault occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Days Inn at 20662 W. 151st St. in Olathe, where one man stabbed another. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, treated for his wounds and released. The identity of the suspected assailant was known to police, but they were not able to take him into custody immediately.

Olathe Police said they spotted the suspect Saturday and pursued a car in which he was either riding or driving north on Interstate Highway 35 and then east on Interstate Highway 435.

Kansas City, Mo., Police were alerted and joined the pursuit when the dark sport utility vehicle carrying the suspect turned off the highway and headed south on State Line Road. Authorities followed the suspect’s vehicle – which was traveling at normal or slightly above-normal speeds – until it crashed at the intersection of Red Bridge Road and Blue Ridge Boulevard. That’s where the suspect was taken into custody.

Three other people – two men and a woman – were in the vehicle with the suspect at the time of the chase and crash. Their condition was unknown immediately after the crash. Nor has the identity of the suspect or any possible charges against him yet been released.
