KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Two men carjacked and sodomized an Overland Park woman Monday evening near Ward Parkway Mall in south Kansas City.

Police said the victim, a woman in her 30s, was stopped at a stoplight at 85th Street and State Line Road just before 9:30 p.m. when two men, wearing all black, approached her car.

One of the suspects tapped a black handgun on the driver's door window. He told her to "get out of the car."

After the victim stepped away from the car, the other suspect grabbed her and forced her into the backseat and got in with her.

They drove off with her inside and forced her to close her eyes. The driver parked at an unknown location. According to police, the suspect in the backseat ripped off the victim’s shirt and pants. One suspect held the victim at gunpoint while the other suspect sodomized her with an unknown object. She kicked him and was able to get out of the car. The suspects then drove off in her car.

Police said the victim ended up at the 18th & Vine Jazz District. A bar manager at the Blue Room said the victim came into the club asking for help around 10 p.m. She appeared to be in distress and hysterical. They helped her call police and an ambulance transported her to a local hospital.

Blue Room manager Andre Tyler said he was glad the bar was open.

“On this intersection, we happened to be the only ones who were open so we were able to help. She sort of just stood just inside the door and the patrons and musicians that were here noticed that she seemed to be distressed; they went over and learned she had perhaps been a victim of a crime. So they called police and waited for an ambulance to show up to give her medical attention,” said Tyler.

According to Darin Snapp with the Kansas City Police Department, the victim's car was found abandoned near 22nd Terrace and Vine at around noon on Wednesday.

The victim told police the suspects were wearing masks, so she doesn't have a good description. She also said her phone was taken too.

If you have any information regarding the incident, you are asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
