GOLDEN CITY, Mo. - KY3 reports according to the probable cause statement in the case against Bobby Bourne, Jr., Bourne led authorities to where they could find the body of 12-year-old Adriaunna Horton, but claims she died from a fall.
However, according to the autopsy report, the cause of Horton’s death was strangulation.
“Bourne claimed Horton ran away from him, fell down and died as a result of falling,” the probable cause statement said.
The statement also says there is evidence that she was sexually assaulted.
Horton went missing near Golden City, Mo., last week. Her body was found on Thursday by Barton County Sheriffs and volunteers in rural Dade County.
Authorities charged Bobby D. Bourne Jr, 34, of Lockwood, Mo., with kidnapping the girl. He remains in the Barton County jail on $2 million bond.
The girl's father, Golden City resident James Horton, said Bourne had once worked for him and that their children played together.
Bourne is set to appear in court on Monday.
