KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City's Hyde Park neighborhood has seen five car thefts in the past 30 days. The most recent one happened early Friday morning and the homeowners want neighbors to beware.

Sadina Phillips Millard and her husband, Sean, woke up around 1 a.m. Friday to the sound of the diesel engine in their F-350 truck. Initially, Sadina though Sean was going somewhere but she quickly realized that he was lying in the bed next to her.

"I jumped out of the bed and used my friend's car to chase the thieves," Sean said.

The thieves got away. Sean and Sadina called police and made fliers to take around the neighborhood showcasing what the thieves stole; their F-350 truck, a Bobcat and a flat bed trailer.

By mid afternoon, while talking to neighbors about the theft, Sadina saw a familiar site just a block from her home.

"I was talking to my neighbor and I could see my big gold bumper," Sadina exclaimed. "And then I was like 'That's my truck!'"

Sadina called police and the couple surveyed the damaged; a busted lock, a broken steering column and a missing radio.

"It's extremely frustratin,." Sean said. "And I don't even expect to get the trailer and the Bobcat back."

Kansas City police are investigating the theft. No arrests have been made in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline, 816-474-TIPS.
