According to police, Mize was drinking alcohol at the Longbranch Steakhouse in Lenexa when his gun accidentally went off under the table and shot his wife in the knee in January.

His wife was treated and released from the hospital the same night.

While Mize had a permit to carry the gun, it's illegal to do so while drinking in Kansas.
