KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Campus police on the Maple Woods Community College in northeast Kansas City are on alert following a sexual assault on campus.
Authorities issued an emergency notification just before 8 p.m. after a student reported being assaulted at 7:30 p.m. outside the Learning Resources building on the south end of the campus.
The victim was taken to the hospital by a campus security officer. The Kansas City Police Department also responded to the scene.
Police described the suspect as a male armed with a knife wearing blue jeans and white Nike tennis shoes.
A statement on the college’s website urged students and staff to be alert and aware of your surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the campus police department.
