LAWRENCE, Kan. - A couple accused of tying up and blindfolding some of their children in a Lawrence, Kan., Wal-Mart parking lot were investigated for child neglect last year.

Adolfo Gomez Jr. and his wife, Deborah Gomex, are from Illinois.

The Department of Children and Family Services investigated a possible neglect report last December. The state closed the case in April without any findings.

Last week, police in Lawrence found a 5 and 7-year-old tied up and blindfolded outside the vehicle .

There were three other children ages 12, 13 and 15 inside the SUV as well, but not restrained.

Their SUV broke down on a family trip to Arizona.

The couple will be in court on Thursday.
