KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City animal group is offering a $1,500 reward after a dog was found severely mutilated and dumped in its owner's yard.
Chica, a 4-year-old Chihuahua was found Thursday in Danielle Carter’s yard near Vivion Road and Brighton Ave. in Kansas City, Mo.
“Her throat was slit. Blood had been drained out of her body,” said Carter.
According to the animal rescue organization Love 4 Paws experts have said that the dog’s injuries could not have been inflicted by a car or another animal.
Chica’s back leg had also been broken and her body had been skinned.
Kansas City police are investigating the case. Animal control plans to file charges if they get a suspect.
Love 4 Paws is offering a $1,500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.
