KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A driver took off after a crash early Tuesday in Kansas City that left a car mangled and a power pole on the ground.
Police say the car hit a fire hydrant in the 700 block of Benton Boulevard around 4:35 a.m.
The car landed on its top.
Authorities say the car was spotted earlier in the night on Independence Avenue. It sped off when a police officer got behind it.
Police on the scene say the driver of the car ran away from the crash site. It appeared nobody else was inside the vehicle.
