INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - A fifth person was charged with nine felony counts, including first degree murder, in the deaths of three family members in Independence.
Carlos Zambrano, Jr. faces three counts of first degree murder and six other charges.
The murder happened on Nov. 16. It was initially reported as a home invasion turned deadly. Four people were shot. Killed were Maria Hernandez, her son Antonio Hernandez and her boyfriend Thomas Madrigal. The fourth person was seriously injured.
Also arrested and charged in the crime are Antonio Cervantes III, Raul Soto, Bobby Jo Phillips and Kevin M. Finley. All face the same nine charges.
