KANSAS CITY, Missouri - A former pastor is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in a grand jury indictment unsealed Wednesday.
David Love, the one-time pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Independence, was arrested Tuesday in Spartanburg County, South Carolina .
He is accused of shooting 42-year-old Randy Stone, who was found dead March 31 in his insurance office in Independence.
Authorities initially did not say what Love’s arrest was for, other than that he was a fugitive wanted for unspecified crimes in Missouri.
Stone’s family members say Love was having an affair with Stone’s wife.
The indictment was filed last Friday and was unsealed Wednesday after his arrest.
Love had a hearing Wednesday in South Carolina, where he was denied bond. Love also refused to sign extradition papers which would’ve sent him back to Missouri.
Now it’s up to the governor to force the process. The State of Missouri has 20 days to extradite Love. If that does not happen, Love will be set free.
