BLAINE, Wash. (AP) - Police say a Blaine man injected a 16-year-old girl with methamphetamine three times because he said she was "constantly bugging him" to let her use the drug.

The Bellingham Herald reports that 21-year-old David Lee Svege was charged this week with distributing meth to a person younger than 18. The charges stemming from the meth incident came after Svege was arrested at a local Wal-Mart trying to steal DVD players.

Police say Svege admitted in a written statement when Svege couldn't find a pipe to smoke meth, he picked up a used syringe and injected himself with meth. He then injected her twice in the right arm with the same dirty syringe.

The girl had been reported as a runaway by her mother.
