KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A teen faces charges of murdering his grandmother in March.
The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office charged Corey D. Barrett, 17, with 2nd degree murder, 1st degree burglary and two counts of armed criminal action.
Court records accuse Barrett and another teen, Kevin J. Brewer, of going to Marise Barrett’s home on March 17 and murdering her. Marise Barrett’s husband found her in her bed with puncture wounds. Authorities found signs of forced entry.
Barrett was initially charged in family court, but he has been certified to stand trial as an adult.
Prosecutor’s requested a $250,000 bond.
