KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City man is recovering after being hit in the head multiple times with a hammer.

Police say the victim got into a fight in the 400 block of Englewood Road with a man that reportedly used to date the victim’s girlfriend, after he received several phone calls and violent threats from the suspect.

During the fight, the suspect reached into his waistband and pulled out a hammer. He chased the victim and struck him twelve times in the head, while threatening to kill him, according to police.

The suspect then took the victim’s wallet, phone and money, according to police reports.

The victim received seven staples and 12 stitches in his head. Police say he also appeared to have a depressed skull fracture.

The victim did not wish to prosecute.
