INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - A 19-year-old homeless man has been charged for the murder of a 33-year-old Raytown man.
Jackson Co. Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker has charged Chad D. Terry Jr., of second degree murder and armed criminal action for the shooting death of Erik Schwartz.
Independence police found Schwartz in the 400 block of N. Grand just before 2 a.m. Wednesday. He had a gunshot wound to the head. He later died at an area hospital.
According to court documents, a witness told police the motive was robbery. Terry allegedly took only cigarettes from the scene.
Witnesses also told police Terry bragged about the shooting, according to court documents.
