KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Jackson County jury found a man guilty in the 2010 shooting death of his wife. Robert Washington, 42, shot and killed his wife, Robyn Hamilton, during an early morning argument in their home.
A child in the house told police he woke up to sound of the two fighting, according to court documents.
He watched as Washington pulled a gun and shot the 42-year old Hamilton, the documents state.
Officers found Hamilton dead inside the house in the 5000 block of George Avenue.
Washington drove to a friend's house and told her he wanted to tell her goodbye, according to the court documents. He began to cry and said he wanted to kill himself.
Officers arrested Washington later that day. He denied killing his wife and gave detectives a phony alibi, according to the court documents.
Washington will be sentenced June 14.
