KANSAS CITY, Kansas - A Johnson County attorney has been charged with one count of attempting to entice a minor to have sex and one count of sending and receiving child pornography.

Samuel P. Logan, 45, who lives in Kansas City, Missouri, but worked as a lawyer at Foulston Siefkin LLP in Overland Park, Kansas, was charged in a criminal complaint filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Kansas.

Logan allegedly used a webcam multiple times to send pictures of him masturbating to an undercover cop posing as a 14-year-old girl. Logan allegedly encouraged the undercover officer to join him.

In some of the pictures, Logan could be seen in an office, with office furniture, framed certificates, and diplomas.

According to the affidavit, Logan engaged in sexual conversations and sent adult and child pornography on a regular basis to the undercover officer from June 1, 2010 to July 22, 2010.

Logan allegedly told investigators that his name was Sam, that he was 45, and drove a Toyota Camry. According to the affidavit, Logan exchanged cell phone numbers with the officer and wanted to meet in person.

The conversations, according to the affidavit, happened while Logan was in the office, in a hotel room in Indianapolis and in an airport in Chicago.

A subpoena to the chat room provider pointed investigators to Logan.

Friday, Logan's defense lawyer waived his rights for a preliminary hearing. The case will proceed in front of a grand jury within the next 30 days.

The defense requested that he be let out on bond to his parent’s house, but that was denied. He remains behind bars Friday.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, if Logan is convicted on both charges, he could face between 15 years to a life sentence in prison.  He could also have to pay up to $500,000 in fines.

U.S. prosecutors added evidence Friday inluding, what they called, proof that Logan left sex toys and video pornography in his car as he went inside Oak Park Mall to meet the 14 year old girl.

Logan's defense did not challenge that evidence.

NBC Action News stopped by his law firm Friday.  Firm partner Jim Oliver explained that the FBI called on Thursday to break the news.  Oliver said he and the rest of the team were shocked to learn of the charges.

Oliver also told NBC Action News Logan has always been very involved in the community, including time served as the president of the Olathe Rotary Club.

Logan is married and has two children.  A relative answered the door to his home Friday but didn't want to talk on camera.
