KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City Police Department sergeant charged in July with stealing money from his mom has resigned from the department.
A police department spokesman confirmed Tuesday that Sgt. Mark Stinson resigned from the department at the end of August. Stinson, 43, appeared in court on Tuesday on a felony charge of misappropriating funds of his mom, which were supposed to go to a northland nursing home.
Stinson’s court hearing was continued until Oct. 30.
On July 2, Platte County prosecutors charged Stinson, alleging he stole more than $76,000 from his 67-year-old mom.
