OLATHE, KANSAS - Michael Lewis went from a person of interest to an accused killer in a Shawnee murder.
Lewis, 22, of Kansas City, Kan., is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.
Johnson County prosecutors allege Lewis shot and killed Curley Tyler on April 4 as Tyler sat in his vehicle in a Shawnee apartment complex.
Tyler was found in the front seat of his Cadillac SUV.
A Metro Squad formed after the killing and investigated dozens of leads in the case.
Lewis became of person of interest and police tracked him down in California.
He was brought back to Kansas on a probation violation while police and prosecutors worked to develop a case.
