TOPEKA, Kan. - Two people were arrested early Thursday after a police chase from Lawrence into Topeka.
Investigators from Topeka and Lawrence were looking for a parole absconder when they spotted the suspect, considered armed and dangerous, in the passenger seat of a vehicle near N. 2nd Street near Lincoln Street, Lawrence Police Sgt. Damon Thomas said.
Officers tried to pull the car over, but it fled, heading west toward Topeka.
About 35 minutes later, the car was disabled by stop sticks in eastern Topeka and the absconder and a female driver were taken into custody.
The man was arrested on outstanding warrants and the woman was booked on multiple charges related to the chase, including nearly hitting two officers during the pursuit.
