KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A 20-year-old man has been charged with the drive-by shooting murder of a man in 2008, when the alleged shooter was just 15 years old.
The Jackson County Prosecutor on Sunday announced murder charges against R.C. Moore IV in the Nov. 13, 2008, shooting death of then-19-year-old Michael Gant outside the Lucille Bluford Branch of the Kansas City Public Library, 3050 Prospect Ave.
In a legal document supporting the charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action against Moore, police said that three witnesses came forward, starting in October, to tell them about the incident, in which Moore allegedly fired a handgun from a passing car at Gant.
Moore was interviewed by detectives on Jan. 4 and denied knowing the victim or having any other information about the crime. He was taken into custody at that time and charged with the murder on Sunday. Although he was a juvenile at the time of the murder, Moore has been certified to stand trial as an adult.
