KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A man will be put on trial this week for a 1990 rape after DNA linked him to the crime.

Jackson County prosecutors charged Roy D. Andrews, 46, with rape and two counts of sodomy.

He is accused of attacking a woman and her 11-year-old daughter on November 23, 1990.

The victims were at their home near East 22nd Street and Poplar Avenue when two men burst through the front door, according to court documents.

One of the men carried a sawed-off shotgun.

The men asked for the woman's boyfriend, and she told them he had gone to the store, pleading with the men to not hurt her or her daughter.

One of the men forced the 11-year-old girl to perform a sex act on him, court documents state.

Andrews allegedly took the woman into a bedroom and raped her.

A DNA profile was done using evidence gathered from the woman. More than 20 years later, Andrews' DNA was found to match that of the swab taken from the woman.

Andrews told police he didn't know about the rape, the house or the victims, court records state.
