OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Police say a woman pistol-whipped a man in the parking garage of Nordstroms at the Oak Park Mall during an armed robbery on Monday.
The incident occurred around 11:35 a.m. According to Overland Park Police, the victim was walking to his car when the woman took out a handgun and demanded his wallet. When the victim refused and tried to struggle, she hit him over the head with the gun.
"You just don't think about a female attacking an adult male regardless of size and asking for your wallet," officer Gary Mason said. "That's a concern for us but also a wake-up-call for anybody who thinks they're invincible."
A male suspect then grabbed the gun from the woman and pointed it at the victim. The two suspects left together in a grey Chevy Equinox.
The victim was able to keep his wallet and was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital. Police say fighting back is not recommended.
"When a weapon's involved, then all bets are off, and it's just easier to just give them what they want," Mason said. "Your life is worth more than credit cards or any cash you had your wallet. Those can be replaced."
Police described the woman as a black female between 25 and 30 years old with a medium build. She is estimated to be between 5 feet and 5 feet, 3 inches tall. The other suspect was described as a black male who is 6 feet tall with a slim build.
