BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - Two gunmen broke into a Blue Springs home Wednesday night, tied up a couple and shot the husband, all while their 4-year-old son slept, police said.
The home invasion happened around 9:40 p.m. at a home in the 400 block of SW Keystone Dr., according to a statement from the Blue Springs Police Department.
Police said they believe drugs were related to the crime.
"We do not believe this was a random occurrence where they kicked in the door and tried to rob them," Detective Jeremy Dickstein said. "The residents of Blue Springs do not need to be worried about the same thing occurring."
The woman and child were not injured.
The man was treated and released from a local hospital for a gunshot wound to his leg.
Police are looking for two suspects. One was wearing a Home Depot racing jacket.
If you know anything about what happened, you are urged to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
