MERRIAM, Kan. - The Merriam Police Department said a man shot his roommate while he slept Friday morning.
A 52-year-old man called police just before 3:30 a.m. and told officers his roommate shot him several times.
When officers arrived at the Kings Cove Apartments in the 7300 block of Brittany Street, they found the 60-year-old roommate waiting in the hallway. He surrendered to police.
The victim told officers he was asleep on the couch and did not know why his roommate shot him.
The victim was shot in the face and upper chest. He was transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police are searching for the handgun used in the shooting.
Officers have submitted reports to the District Attorney for possible charges.
