Northland homicide: Man found dead in home in 5500 block of Munger Avenue

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City homicide detectives continue to canvass for clues after a man was found shot to death in the Northland.

The victim was identified as 53-year-old Albert Bowman.

According to police, Bowman's wife called 911 when she found him lifeless around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday in a home in the 5500 block of Munger Avenue.

Authorities said the dark hampered their investigation that evening. Since the sun came up, investigators have gone in and out of the garage, and have been looking all around neighbor's yards for any clues.

Neighbors said the Bowman family has lived in this neighborhood for years. They tell us the couple was planning to put their home on the market this month.

So far, police haven't said who they're looking for or any possible motive for the murder.

"They're going to do an area canvas and knock on doors because a lot of times somebody may know something important and not even know it was important,” Kansas City Police Department Spokesman Steve Young said. “If we don’t go out and beat the bushes a bit there's a chance we could miss information."

Young said this neighborhood really hasn't had any criminal issues in the past, and that it's always a good idea to look out for your neighbors.

“We want to go slow and make sure we miss nothing. Our hope is someone knows something and calls the TIPS Hotline to set us in the right direction," he said.
