One dead and three injured in near-simultaneous shootings in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - UPDATE | 09-07-2010

The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Thomas E. Simmons of Kansas City, Missouri.

Police say there are no suspects in custody.

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - Two shootings in Kansas City Sunday night happened almost simultaneously, leaving one dead and three more with injuries.

Police were called to Gregory and Prospect around 10:45 p.m. on the first shooting call.

Just south of the intersection, arriving officers found a man and a woman inside in a vehicle  suffering from gunshot wounds.

The man, who police say was in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was taken to an area hospital, where she was said to be in stable condition Monday morning.

Almost at the same time, two males were sent to the hospital after a shooting that occured at the 5600 block of Norton. The victims suffered injuries but are said to be okay.

Police say that the two shootings are not related.
