KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A 93-year-old man has been charged with killing his wife in an attempted murder-suicide in Kansas City, Mo.
Harry Irwin faces one count of second-degree murder for the death of his wife, 95-year-old Grace Irwin.
Officers responded to the 11000 block of Wyandotte at about 6:50 a.m. Thursday. The call initially came in as a shooting, but a Kansas City police spokesman said he could not confirm a gun was involved.
Investigators say Harry Irwin, whose wounds were self-inflicted, is expected to survive.
He allegedly confessed to killing his wife, according to court documents.
"Given the facts, a murder charge was warranted," Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said in a statement. "No victim deserves someone else deciding when they will die."
