KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The youngest victims coping with the fact their parents or loved one was killed, were shown extra love and support Saturday.
The Healing Pathway Victim Service Agency held a special picnic for children and their caregivers at Swope Park in Kansas City.
It included foods, games and face painting.
The kids also got the chance to meet and talk with Kansas City police officers and firefighters.
"They are not exposed to a lot in the community. By meeting them, it might influence them to do that when they are older," said Carla Byrd, a board member of Healing Pathway Victim Service Agency.
Healing Pathways also offers educational and emotional support for the children.
