OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - An Overland Park cat shelter was hit by thieves Sunday afternoon, leaving the shelter lighter on cash.
Police say they were called out around 3 p.m. to the Purrfect Pets cat shelter in the 9500 block of Metcalf Avenue inside of the Metcalf South Shopping Center on reports of a theft.
By the time they arrived, the suspects, who the store’s owner believes were three girls ages 11-13, had left the scene with $310 worth of boxes and cash from the shelter.
Authorities confirmed they were investigating the incident, but did not offer any suspect information.
