FRANKLIN COUNTY, Kan. - A 911 call led to a gruesome discovery Monday afternoon inside a barn on a rural Franklin County, Kan., farm.
Some witnesses noticed a foul smell coming from the barn, on Georgia Road just outside of Ottawa in unincorporated Franklin County.
“We went out there today,” one of the witnesses told a group of reporters Monday night at the scene. “We were looking in the garage where the smell was coming from. We walked around in back of the car and the body was laying there under a pile of junk.”
They called authorities, who searched the barn and the farm.
Monday night, authorities said two bodies were recovered from the barn. Tuesday morning, Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Richards said a third body was found on the farm.
No identities have been released, and Richards said he couldn’t discuss the cause of death because of the open investigation, but he did say the case is being investigated as a homicide.
Skytracker video showed several detectives surveying the area Monday afternoon. The Kansas Department of Homeland Security was also on scene.
If you have any information about the case, you're asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 888-311-TIPS.
