KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Police are investigating a suspicious death in the Northland.

Police identified the woman found just before 2 p.m. Thursday as Denise J. Streeter, 49, of Kansas City, Kan.

Streeter's body was found in a wooded area near Platte Purchase Park at NW 100th and North Platte Purchase Road.

Authorities are investigating the death as a homicide. Police have not released the exact cause of death.

"With the cold weather, we can't really tell exactly, but she's probably been here a couple days," said KCPD spokesperson Darin Snapp. "Just walking up to the body you cannot tell how she died."

Police said a walker found the body and called 911.
