KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police in Kansas City arrested an assault suspect early Tuesday after a standoff.

Officers were called to the 4100 block of N. Mersington around 3:36 a.m. Tuesday.

Police arrived to find a female assault victim. The suspect, who was believed to be armed, remained inside and refused to come out and speak with police.

Kansas City Police Spokeswoman Stacey Graves said the man was taken into custody just after 6 am.

The nature of the assault was not immediately clear. Graves said her injuries appeared to be minor.
