INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - One person is dead and another is in police custody following a shooting in Independence Saturday afternoon.

Authorities were called to the 1900 block of S. Norton Ave., just after noon on reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found one person injured with gunshot wounds, according to a statement released from police.

That person was taken to a local hospital and later died, according to police.

One person was taken into custody at the scene. The case is still under investigation.
