KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City police are looking for who murdered a woman in her Kansas City home.
A relative found 46-year-old Angela Randall near East 47th Street and Overton Avenue.
The family said they want everyone to know the kind of person Randall was.
In her neighborhood, people described her as polite and friendly and her family said every day she made a home cooked meal for them to stop by and enjoy.
Kierra Matthews, Randall’s daughter-in-law, showed 41 Action News a cell phone picture taken just last week. It captured the last time Angela Randall and her family were all together.
“My grandmother is in the hospital. We were just hanging out and they took the picture. We were just having a good time like we usually do,” said Matthews.
She said the family knew something was wrong when Randall didn’t call or answer her phone Tuesday.
“She makes sure she calls every day. She didn't answer the phone and we didn't think she was home. I didn't have a key, so my brother-in-law, he walked in there and found his mother like that,” said Matthews.
Matthews said Randall’s son found her dead in her room. Officials searched the area for clues and interviewed neighbors.
They said the crime appeared suspicious in nature and there were obvious signs of trauma.
Police said the inside of the home was “a big crime scene” but they are not releasing additional information at this time.
People who live in the area said they are still in shock and feel bad for Randall’s loved ones.
“That is a terrible loss. They say she didn't bother anybody but she spoke to everybody,” said Phyllis Todd who said she witnessed police investigate the area around the home.
Matthews said her last memory of Randall was Super Bowl Sunday when she was doing what she loved, cooking for the family.
“And she told my kids, I'll see you later,” said Matthews.
