OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Police in Overland Park say shots were fired Monday morning during an apparent road rage incident.

Investigators say two vehicles were headed north on Metcalf Avenue from the area near Interstate 435 when it all started because one driver cut the other off around 7:40 a.m.

More than three miles later, at79th and Metcalf, police say one of the drivers fired a gun five times, missing the other driver, but causing significant damage to this vehicle.

Authorities found several shell casings on the scene and a bullet hole in one of the cars involved, but nobody was injured.

Managers at Overland Park Mazda say one bullet hit a 2009 Jeep in their parking lot, causing about $1,000 in damage.

Police were still looking for the second car, believed to be a black two-door Mercury with Kansas plates, but hadn’t provided any further details about the vehicle.

If you know anything about what happened, you are urged to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
