KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A standoff that lasted more than eight hours at a home in Kansas City, Kan., ended just before noon Thursday when a homicide suspect was found dead inside the house. Police said it was apparent the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

Authorities responded to a shooting call around 3:40 a.m. in the 2300 block of S. Mill.

Arriving officers found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound in the front yard of a residence and received information that a suspect in the shooting may be in a home nearby, Kansas City, Kansas Police Department spokesman Thomas Tomasic said in a live interview on 41 Action News Today.

Investigators told 41 Action News authorities entered the home to find the suspect deceased.

The suspect’s cause of death was not immediately clear.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
