RAYMORE, Mo. - A 34-year-old Raymore man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife Saturday.
Raymore Police Chief Jan Zimmerman said the Cass County Prosecuting Attorney charged Erick Beckett Saturday evening with murder in the first degree. The victim was his 30-year-old wife, Danielle Beckett. Erick Beckett was being transported Saturday night to the Cass County Jail, where he was to be held in lieu of $500,000 bond, Zimmerman said.
Zimmerman said officers were called to a disturbance at the Becketts' home near 58 Highway and Sunrise Drive at about 7:10 a.m.
Danielle Beckett was transported by ambulance to a Kansas City, Mo., hospital with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead just before 8 a.m., the police chief said.
Danielle Beckett's 16-year-old son was home at the time of the shooting, Zimmerman said, and he has since gone to stay with his father in Kansas City, Mo.
