TOPEKA, Kan. - The second of two escapees from a Kansas prison was taken back into custody late Monday morning.
Robert Cook, 52, was arrested in Byers, Kan. He had escaped from the Winfield Correctional Facility with fellow inmate Frank Crutchfield, 48, on June 16.
Winfield is about 220 miles southwest of Kansas City near Wichita.
Cook is serving time for burglary, theft and aggravated indecent solicitation. Crutchfield, who was caught last Wednesday, is behind bars for multiple burglaries, thefts and criminal damage.
Both men had previously escaped custody in 1983 - Cook from a Sedgwick County prison, and Crutchfield from one in Shawnee.
