GLADSTONE, Mo. - One person is dead and another hospitalized after an apparent double-shooting at a Gladstone apartment complex.

Police found the first victim, 23-year-old Ashton Gann, just before 4 a.m. He'd been shot several times and was in the hallway of a building at the Sun Gate Apartments at 6813 N. Broadway when they were called to the complex.

He was transported to an area hospital, where he died.

Officers at the scene were notified of a second victim about an hour later at a different building in the complex, located at 6825 N. Broadway. The second victim, an 18-year-old man, had been shot in the abdomen. He was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery. He is still hospitalized. Police have not released his identity.

Investigators say the victims were shot by a handgun. They are calling the incidents separate, but related.

One person was arrested. Gladstone Police said they believe the Clay County Prosecutor will file charges soon. They are still looking for a second suspect.

If you know anything about what happened, you are urged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
