KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City, Mo., police officers are responding to reports of a shooting near Swope Park in the 6600 block of Askew that happened around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police say someone in a silver Charger drove by and began shooting, hitting a 19-year-old standing nearby. They say the two sides began firing at each other. Two more people sitting on the porch of the house nearby were hurt from flying debris from the house.n.
African-Centered College Preparatory Academy was on lockdown on for about an hour and a half following the shooting.
More than a dozen police are on the scene and neighbors tell 41 Action News they heard between 30 and 40 shots.
"It was like 30 to 40 gunshots going back and forth, back and forth," neighbor Tiffani Williams said. "I was asleep and felt the vibrations of the gun shots when they were letting them off."
Police say they may be looking for one or multiple suspects.
One man was arrested while he tried to run from the scene.
