KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Police investigated a drive-by shooting on the city's east side on Saturday evening.

Police said at least two people were shot, including a 4 year-old child who is not expected to survive.

It happened in the 2400 block of Denver. Police called for two emergency medical teams. Initial reports were that the child was taken to Children's Mercy with gunshot wounds to the chest and head.

Carlos Smith lives next door to the child and says he saw the aftermath of the drive-by, which took place in his driveway.

"They look pretty bad, like the baby got hit in the upper area of the body. He was laying pretty still," Smith said.

Kansas City police believe the shooting was gang related. They have located a vehicle they believe was used in the shooting, but no arrests have been made in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline, 816-474-TIPS.
