KANSAS CITY, Missouri - 18 year old Dejan Joksimovic moved to Kansas City two years ago from Serbia.
He and his mother were looking for a better life in America.

Joksimovic was on track to graduate from North Kansas City High School this May until shots were fired at a hotel party early Saturday morning.
His cousin Dejan Tadic says he was invited too, “Thing was, I was supposed to be at that hotel party that night."
“I kind of wish I was there,” he continues, “Maybe I could have helped him out, saved him."
Tadic says he first met Dejan Joksimovic when he picked him up from the airport two years ago. He says his cousin was excited to be in America and eager to start his new life.
“He was just an amazing kid. I'd do anything to have more time with him," Tadic said.
22 year old Delfino Elizondo and 18 year old Armin Hamidovic were also shot Saturday morning. Elizondo died Sunday morning, Hamidovic died soon after he was taken to the hospital.
According to police, all three were shot in the head. Detectives are not yet ruling out the question of execution style killings. That is just one of a long list of reasons why the Metro Squad was formed. 21 detectives are now investigating the case.
Detective Marcus Regan is hopeful one of the party-goers will talk. So far, it’s unclear how many people were there at the time of the shooting. He explains, “With that many witnesses, usually somebody saw something or be able to tell you what happened."
Yesterday, police questioned a number of people. Sunday evening, no one was in custody.
Grief counselors will be on hand Monday at North Kansas City High School as students learn of the death of their classmate.
